The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association has sent two young athletes in Malik McNamara and Keith Jele to an international camp in South Korea under the New Horizon Academy Programme.
The young athletes have already left the country to attend the 14-day camp at the PyeongChang Olympic Venues. The aim of the programme is to help nations develop young athletes to compete in the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Games by giving them professional training in 7 winter sports.
Notably, the young athletes attended the first camp in December where they performed exceptionally well where they were accompanied by EOCGA board member, Nhlanhla Maphanga. The sports in which they will be trained under are; Bobsleigh, Skeleton, Luge, Alpine Ski, Cross country, Short Track Speed Skating.
Accompanying the athletes this time around is EOCGA board member, Victor Dlamini and they are expected back in the country on the 20th of July 2023.
