The Olympafrica Centres Directors Network recently convened in Dakar from April 6 to 12, 2025, in a significant gathering that united Centre Directors from across the African continent.

This meeting served as a crucial platform for evaluating the past year’s activities, introducing innovative programs, addressing common challenges, and sharing ground-breaking ideas to strengthen the network’s impact. The Olympafrica Foundation played a vital role in promoting the values of sport, education, and social development throughout Africa.

This year’s meeting focused on collaborative efforts to enhance the effectiveness of Olympafrica Centres, which served as essential hubs for youth engagement and empowerment. By fostering a sense of community and collaboration, these Centres aimed to cultivate a generation of leaders equipped to tackle the challenges facing their societies.

Thoba Mazibuko, newly appointed Centre Director, shared his enthusiasm about participating in this inspiring program. “I was honored to be part of this inspiring program. It provided me with invaluable insights into the purpose and potential of Olympafrica Centres,” he stated. “I am excited to return home and implement the knowledge and strategies gained here to enhance our work and impact.”

Thoba is expected back in the country on April 14, where he would begin the vital task of applying what he had learned to improve the services and outreach of his Centre. Throughout the week, participants engaged in a variety of discussions and workshops that covered a wide range of topics, from effective program implementation to strategies for community engagement. The meeting also emphasized the importance of innovation in addressing the unique challenges faced by each Centre, ensuring that they could adapt to the evolving needs of the communities they served.
