On 12 July 2025, the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) held a high-level meeting with the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC) at the NNOC offices in Windhoek, Namibia. The engagement took place on the sidelines of the Region 5 Youth Games, which ran from 4–13 July 2025.
Representing EOCGA were President Adam “Bomber” Mthethwa, CEO Maxwell Jele, and Board Member Victor “Mavikane” Dlamini. They held formal discussions with the NNOC Board, led by President Dr. Ndeulipula Hamutumwa.
Also present from the NNOC were Vice President Gaby Ahrens, Secretary General Joan Smit, and Executive Board Member & Marketing Commission Chair Margreth Mengo.
This meeting marked the first official interaction between the two National Olympic Committees following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Algiers, Algeria, in April 2025.

Central to the discussions was the development of an implementation framework for the MOU, aimed at enhancing institutional capacity and collaboration. A key outcome was NNOC’s commitment to send a delegation of 2–3 Board Members to Eswatini for a benchmarking visit.
The NNOC commended EOCGA on the progress of its head office construction and its strategic use of Olympic Solidarity funding. They also expressed interest in learning more about EOCGA’s strong partnership with the Sports and Recreational Council and the Ministry of Sports—recognized as one of the most effective collaborations in the Region.
Further cooperation was discussed around athlete development, with EOCGA expressing interest in utilizing Namibia’s High Performance Centre in Swakopmund. This facility has been instrumental in producing some of Namibia’s top athletes.
Both Committees reaffirmed their commitment to promoting their partnership as a model for regional integration. They pledged to work closely in advancing Olympism and Olympic Values through all joint programmes and initiatives.
