The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) has continued to advance its vision of developing sport and fostering Olympic values across the region by strengthening its partnership with the Namibia National Olympic Committee (NNOC).
This milestone marks another step forward in regional collaboration, following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two National Olympic Committees during the ANOCA General Assembly held in Algiers, Algeria, about six months ago. The agreement outlines a shared commitment to sports development, capacity building, and the promotion of Olympic and Commonwealth Games ideals.
Earlier this year, the partnership gained momentum during the Region 5 Games in Namibia, where EOCGA leadership met with NNOC President, Dr Ndeulipula Hamutumwa, to further refine the areas of cooperation and knowledge-sharing. The meeting emphasized mutual learning and practical collaboration, aimed at creating opportunities for athletes, coaches, and administrators from both nations.
As part of the ongoing Exchange Programme under this cooperation, EOCGA Projects Manager, Pretty Simelane, has departed for Namibia to offer technical guidance and support. Her visit reflects EOCGA’s proactive approach to sharing expertise and fostering cross-border exchange in sports administration and programme implementation.
This collaboration is expected to bring tangible benefits to Eswatini sport, including enhanced technical capacity, broader exposure for athletes and coaches, and stronger institutional linkages within the region. It also strengthens EOCGA’s commitment to regional solidarity and the advancement of the Olympic Movement in Africa.
The initiative is supported by Olympic Solidarity, whose continued investment in capacity-building enables National Olympic Committees like Eswatini and Namibia to expand their development programmes and improve the quality of sports governance and performance across the continent.
EOCGA extends its gratitude to Olympic Solidarity, NNOC, and all partners who continue to support its mission of empowering athletes, developing sport, and promoting unity through the Olympic spirit.
Together, Eswatini and Namibia are building bridges that go beyond borders; strengthening sport, inspiring excellence, and driving positive change through collaboration.
