The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) is proud to announce another significant milestone in the country’s ongoing journey toward sustainable sports development. Through the continued support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), EOCGA has successfully secured additional funding under the Development of National Sports Structure (DNSS) program. This latest acquisition further reinforces EOCGA’s strategic focus on strengthening local sporting bodies and creating long-term development pathways.
In this funding cycle, the Eswatini Volleyball Association (EVA) has been named the latest beneficiary. The announcement was made official during a launch event attended by key leaders in the local sporting fraternity, including EOCGA President Adam Mthethwa, CEO Maxwell Jele, and EVA President Eric Gama. The event marked a moment of celebration and optimism for the volleyball community in Eswatini, as the support will enable EVA to upscale its administrative, coaching, and athlete development structures.
Addressing attendees, EVA President Eric Gama conveyed his enthusiasm and vision for the sport, stating that EVA is on course to becoming a formidable force in the region. He emphasized that this targeted support arrives at a crucial time as the federation pushes to elevate its performance, increase grassroots engagement, and build competitive structures at both national and regional levels.
This development marks the fourth National Federation in Eswatini to benefit from DNSS funding within just two Olympic quadrennials. It stands as clear proof of EOCGA’s active role in supporting local federations through meaningful partnerships, international collaboration, and technical investment. Such achievements reflect the Association’s mission to cultivate excellence, build capacity, and professionalize the sport ecosystem in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
Looking ahead, EOCGA remains committed to working closely with EVA and other federations to ensure that the impact of this funding is far-reaching and sustainable. The expectation is that EVA will leverage this opportunity to produce more skilled athletes, certified coaches, and structured programs that contribute to national pride and global competitiveness. With this latest milestone, the path is set for Eswatini sport to grow stronger, more inclusive, and more ambitious in its reach and outcomes.
