The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association was one of the sporting bodies that honoured their invitation to the 3rd edition of the National Sports Awards. This event was not carried out in the last two years thanks to the covid 19 pandemic that put a halt to many events taking place in it’s intense duration spanning across two years.

The wait was finally over as the 2023 National Sports Awards was successfully held on 01 March 2023. Present during the glamorous event was the Hon. Minister of Sports Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Bulunga, ESRC CEO Darius Dlomo, EOCGA Vice President Zakhele Dlamini, EOCGA CEO Maxwell Jele amongst many other high government officials.

Speaking on behalf of EOCGA President was the Vice President Zakhele Dlamini who congratulated the winners on the day for their achievements and highlighted that most of them are involved in the Olympic and Commonwealth programs and knows what it took for them to reach this far. ” You have represented the country with dignity on the international stage including regional, continental and world games, we salute your contribution as you have raised the country flag high as you have put us on the international map. ” I would like to congratulate the ministry and council for putting this event together and also extend my expression to EOCGAs commitment towards our cooperation in the advancement of sports in Eswatini.

The Chief Executive Officer of EOCGA, Maxwell Jele also expressed how excited they were as an association, highlighting the fact that most of the awardees are on EOCGA programs which shows that with the right support and guidance between athletes and supporting bodies, the desired results can be achieved at a much larger scale.
