The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) is proud to announce its successful recognition as a signatory to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Sports for Climate Action Framework (S4CA) — a major milestone that strengthens Eswatini’s commitment to building a more sustainable sporting future.
This achievement is a direct reflection of EOCGA’s leadership in environmental responsibility and aligns closely with the IOC Sustainability Strategy and the global movement to reduce the ecological footprint of sport.
Leading by Example
EOCGA has begun taking practical steps toward greener operations. A key example is the installation of two rows of solar panels on one of our office roofs, enabling us to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources while promoting clean, renewable power within our sporting community. This initiative forms part of our broader commitment to energy efficiency and climate-conscious operations.
Our Commitment as a Signatory
As part of the S4CA framework, EOCGA pledges to:
🌿 Reduce carbon emissions and expand the use of renewable energy systems
🌿 Embed sustainability principles into all events, operations, and organisational practices
🌿 Educate and empower athletes and youth to lead climate action and environmental awareness initiatives
🌿 Measure, monitor, and transparently report progress toward our sustainability and climate goals
These commitments place EOCGA at the forefront of national climate action efforts within the sports sector.
A Global Movement, A National Responsibility
By joining the S4CA community, EOCGA becomes part of an international coalition of sports organisations championing environmental protection and climate resilience. This milestone underscores our belief that sport has the power to inspire change, influence behaviour, and drive a more sustainable future.
Together with our athletes, partners and the broader sports community, we are shaping a greener, cleaner and more resilient Eswatini.
