Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Maxwell Jele is currently in Nairobi, Kenya for the African National Olympic Committee Secretaries’ General Forum.
The CEO is attending this forum together with the local NOC Finance Manager, Nhlanhla Dlamini. The forum will discuss pertinent topics regarding smart ways of improving operations in their respective Olympic Committees. Moreover, it will also have presentations from senior officers from the International Olympic Committee of the Paris 2024 Games. This move would assist NOCs to better understand the approach towards advancing the inspirations of local athletes, coaches and officials.
The CEO also got the opportunity to meet with the 1st Deputy President of the NOC-Kenya- Shadrack Maluki, where they had a meeting discussing the possibilities of attaching some of our local athletes in their specialized programs, mainly middle to long distance running. This is relevant because Kenya is one of the leading countries in this field.
” The meeting with the National Olympic Committee of Kenya is very important in the sense that they are a leading nation in Olympic sport. We all know the competition that Kenyans bring to the world stage. They were the leading African country in medals at the last Olympics in Tokyo. Crafting a partnership with them will be a strategic move signifying our intent to uplift the standard of our athletes. We would like to create exchange opportunities so that our athletes can be exposed to the right conditions for them to reach their true potential. This will hopefully translate to better results and possible podium finishes at the world stage.”
