The Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association had initially earmarked three sporting codes for the upcoming African Beach Games to be held in Hammamet, Tunisia. Those sporting codes being beach Teqball, Beach Volleyball and Open water swimming.

During the recently held Games preparatory meeting held in Tunisia, which the CEO (Maxwell Jele) attended, it was discovered that Beach volleyball did not make the cut unfortunately. However, with inclusion of a 10km beach marathon event on the Games menu, it now meant that the allocated slot for Beach volleyball can be replaced with Beach marathon.

As a result, the team to represent Eswatini in the up coming African Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia, on the 23rd-30th of June 2023 stands as thus;

Thobile Magagula – Chef de Mission

Beach teqball – Menzi Mnisi, Siphosethu Sikhondze, Siphesihle Dlamini and Mfanafuthi Bhembe (manager)

Open water swimming – Simanga Dlamini, Siwakhile Dlamini and Herman Jele (manager)

Beach Marathon – Sikhumbuzo Sihlongonyane, Nokuphila Zwane and Zakhele Dlamini (manager)

The board approved a budget of just under E1 million to send the above team to these games. the budget is inclusive of flights, accommodation, meals and allowances.

On another positive note, these Games will be preceded by the ANOCA General Assembly, which will be held on the 22nd of June in Tunisia, where both the President and CEO of EOCGA will attend.
