The third and final Olympic Day event of 2019 took place at KaLanga Sports Ground in Siteki on the 13th of July. Previous editions of this event were held on the 5th and 6th of July in Mbabane and Kukhanyeni, respectively.
Given that this was the first visit the EOCGA had made to Siteki for an Olympic Day event in quite some time, expectations regarding the potential turnout were tempered.
However, the reception received from the Siteki community was nothing short of incredible, as over 601 people came out and participated in the day’s activities that included a 5km and 10km run, among other games.
This rivalled Olympic Day in Mbabane that hosted 662 participants this year. As a result of this turnout, the total between our three Olympic Day events this month exceeded 1600 participants. This is a very encouraging figure, and proves just how much passion there is for sport and community in Eswatini.
Thank you to our volunteers and those who came out and supported Olympic Day in 2019. It was a pleasure to Move, Learn, and Discover with you. We are truly Better Together.
We can’t wait until next year, to say the least!
